A New Approach in Comparison and Evaluation of the Overall Accuracy of Six Soil-Water Retention Models Using Statistical Benchmarks and Fuzzy Method

In this research, six samples of valid and widely soil-water retention curve (SWRC) estimation models, including van Genuchten, Brooks Corey, Fredlund Xing, Durner, Kosugi, Seki were studied. To realize approach, in the first step, accuracy each model was calculated using ten statistical benchmarks, then numbers obtained from fitting standardized based on benchmark by standard fuzzy method so that all them had a similar scale. Finally, with sum values, an index for as new called Best-Fit Model (BFM) index, which basis comparing evaluating overall models soil texture. Accordingly, if BFM is more extensive closer to 10, fitted gets higher rating. The superiority other studies here, multi-criteria evaluation methods, it can simultaneously assess terms different benchmarks ranking according diversity reaction various provided. results showed Corey lowest Durner highest rank among most textures are considered weakest suitable viewpoint approach used throughout study, respectively.
